We're trying to create this movement from gasroots, the same activits that started this initiative are still active. Youngsteers are very interested in this event what makes a difference with the past. This will be discussed further by Swedish organization 11 October before the Net work Stockholm +50 will meet again 20 October. A first public meeting was held 10 days ago with 40 participants, mainly grassroots in Stockholm aiming at organizing several popular activities in connection to the UN Conference to be held in Stockholm next June 2-3 50 years after the first UN Conference on Environment. Adelante is invited to be among the international cooperation partners. I hope to be able to participate at the meeting tomorrow. If you have any question, please send then by email or ask in other ways. The people's forum is held for two days 31 May - 1 June 2022 before the official UN conference 2-3 June. People+s forum have a common program at 13-17 while during other times it is open for self-organized activities. The People's Forum also continues in a smaller format in parallel with the official conference to report from the official meeting and comment on it and thus continue to be a platform for independent popular movements cooperation and influence of the process. Agreement on Adelante's participation on this event. Ashish: We need background on what's going on. GTA can send some funds for that and also participants. **TASK/ Agreements: Andrea can be in touch with Tord for this and other events so we can update members. ** (we do a different order of the Agenda because of the participation) # New organisational structure Initially, Facilitation Team of Adelante is mad of: Vasna, Eva, Pierre, Franco and Andrea; Core of 5 people working on the process. We think is very few people, and sometimes communication with the rest of the group is complicated. Proposal from the Facilitation Team: enlarge the FT. Instead of meet every month on this GA, meet less but more regular information, and more participation in the FT meetings and tasks. Create more communication Chanels, be in touch with each other by signal or whatever so tings can move faster. Round of thoughts about this: Ashish: Representing the Assembly on a smaller group could make lose the connection and the "international" sphere. Take into account that. Seb: Agree. This will be more dynamic. Vasna: can we involve Multiconvergence? Frederic: Complicated, they're involve iin many process. Frederic can involve but not sure he can do much more work. # Finances: Vasna: Is not that we will have more work, but that communication can work better so we can be all on the same page. Will reach out an have more direct conversations with each of you. To not put a lot of work on you we're thinking about finances (we've already put 2000$ to cover Andrea's work) it would be nice if other movements can donate something to mantain Andrea. Pierre is writing a page to share with funders. Justin: we don't have any money, but we will look for it/ Seb similar/ Funders suggestions?- (send to us) # Website Andrea gave an update on improvements to the website and mentioned the events calendar as well as the plan to make the website bilingual. Plan to do an internal of Adelante with interviews, etc. Public events section with a list of upcoming and past activities Start the multilingual function of the website, and translate the public contents Work to get incoming links from members's website to the Adelante website. This requires dialogue with each of you. We will contact you son. Recover an internal mapping of members of Adelante with all the organizations, names etc. With that, we would like to do interviews, Franco: Consider an announcement of Adelante and make sure that each member of Adelante publish this on their communication platforms Ashish: When typing in Adelante, goes to a different website. Need to position the webiste so it is easily accessible as well as having links for social media. Franco: Proposal - announcement of Adelante in different languages and each member can public that with the Adelante's link of the website. Ashish: Links to social media - put in a more visual way our website. Tord: Likes website, first step have the organizations responsible and put notes on the website. Work together to build this global connection. We're not building something for ourselves but for all the world and that's something organic. Franco: Start implementing translations. That's another way to contribute if some people can volunteer to do translations (in PT, FR...) Justin: We have a general and simple logo with the byline but we can have another one. Vasna: Kalle can do an internship with me and participate for Adelante. Tasks: Work on the logo of the map. Vasna and Seb can help. Send to all the members by the end of this month. # Dialogue on what enables our movements to be liberatory, what turns them against ourselves? Justin moderates this point. What that means to live on this system that is destroying us/ Listen to each other is liberating. Practical vision of what can be liberating. Round of thoughts: Justin: How to carry out our actions without reproducing the dynamics of the system that oppresses us. Reflection on how to take and exercise power. And above all how to make things really happen, how to achieve the desired liberation. I would suggest being ourselves, but starting from the point that the world in which we live oppresses us, exploits ... How to achieve "radical change" given the conditions? Being aware that many collectives are not sufficiently empowered to act. In some ways, a march can be a way of reproducing power(i.e. mobilisation in Glaswow). Talk to others, listen to others, understand what it is like to live in this world that destroys us and see together what the alternatives could be. Seb: how we celebrate our movements? specially at the moment of the COP26. Create a political construction on other ways to relate to others./ Not only about the political condition of our movements, but also about how we create networks and atmospheres of citizenship care/ Tord: Important point the limitation of actions. one we understand that most of the tries we have big problems and we neeed to act inmediaty. We have to use scientific system cause we're not able to create a new ontology. //Book: Negotiating Climate Change in Crisis edited by Steffen Böhm and Sian Sullivan//. Way of turning us against ourselves is single issue ideology bringing us into a down ward spiral. Antiracism being one of these traps at the moment. When going along this path progressive movement seems never able to do enough. In spite of that the left in all statistical and scientific studies can show it is the least racist the perception is the opposite. Labour under Corbyn being a perfect example of this. In my view politically suicidal way of handling the accusations in terms of accepting the framing of the issue in antiracist terms ending in endless arguments were you never can do enough. In the enclosed Budapest appeal against relativization of the Holocaust and rewriting of history addressing the Malmo International Forum on Holocaust memory 13 of October you find an opposite way of addressing the issue. In a longish text a criticize how Labour and Corbyn handled the false accusations. The single issue anti racism discourse is one way the movement starts to turn against itself. If we look at the four possibly contradictory narratives presented by Hulme we face what seems to be and surmountable dilemma. Looking more closely one can see that our opponents cleverly use a mixture of these narratives to isolate us from each other. Which means that it should not be impossible to reverse the way that substantial system change movements are marginalized. // Use transformative approach //Coming together - not being a vanguard. Andrea: what makes our movements liberating is that I believe that we represent diversity, there are people from all continents in our movements, which makes us more and more connected to the local realities of our territories. Listning as you said Justin is liberating in it self for me. Intersectional theory What turns them against ourselves is that sometimes I doubt whether we all come from a very academic world which does not allow us to be at all connected to the local realities of our territories. I always find, more than a contradiction, a questioning about this and I don't know how to solve it. We need to deconstruct ourselves in a decolonial way, trying to not use grandiloquent/ academic words all the time. Nor do I know how to resolve the fact that our talks and reflections really have a direct positive impact on the most vulnerable groups, for example. Frederic: How to position ourselves in anti-capitalist movementsQuestion of violence is a very difficult one –special on women, anticapitalist movements...– It's very important that here we have the peace and the joy in the movement. We need creativity to re-tink the system, think about other forms of work. Being resilient is wonderful, meeting people and friend is also revolutionary specially in covid times. To give a clear message from the multiconvergences, to work on the resignification of the world/ Creating caring relationships it's important. Vasna: I have always this question on my mind. Important role here for me being working for other people in the african continent. Participating in a march in europe can be des-politiziced. The idea of destructing is really important to open debates. Besidesd to focus on climate change but need to focus on climate justice that also includes gender justice, equality, racial justice, police violence etc. Pulling all those conversations together is what it liberates our movements for me. Other challenge: reproducing dynamics from the system. Connection to been grounded is important. How we can be sure that we are not taking away the voice of others. Feel like with GTA we're expanding core group but we need to be engage. Justin: Global justice is fundamental. Defend the idea that is not humanity destroying things, is not us but the system. Next Meeting?: First thrusday of november 14h UTC? .
